About

Ceud mìle fàilte—a hundred thousand welcomes to MACVAYSIA, the online home of Jordan F. MacVay. I was born and raised on beautiful Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada and have been living and working in Malaysia since 2002. I’m currently working as an editor and writer for an online news portal, as well as moonlighting as a media analyst. I live on the fringes of the Klang Valley with my lovely wife (who also happens to be my dentist) and two beautiful boys.

I started this blog in 2004 as a way to let the folks back home know what I was up to, and also as a way to get my thoughts, observations and experiences out there for anyone who might happen to be interested. Overall, blogging has been a pretty positive experience, one that has brought me into contact with a lot of fantastic people and has provided me with lots of writing experience…and some opportunities, too.

My blogging has slowed down a bit, in part because I usually post more private stuff (family photos, etc.) on Facebook now, and also because I usually put links and short observations on Twitter. But I enjoy writing about interesting things — even if they’re really only interesting to me — so the blog is here to stay.

My posts cover a wide range of topics such as family (mine, mostly), culture, language, religion, genealogy, and whatever else I feel like writing about. I also occasionally post (or link to) articles of mine that are published elsewhere.

I hope you enjoy your visit here. If you want to contact me, you can send an email to jfmacvay(at)gmail(dot)com.
