About
Ceud mìle fàilte—a hundred thousand welcomes to MACVAYSIA, the online home of Jordan F. MacVay. I’m a Canadian, born and raised on beautiful Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia; I’ve been living and working in Malaysia since 2002.
I started this blog in 2004 as a way to let the folks back home know what I was up to, and also as a way to get my thoughts, observations and experiences out there for anyone who might happen to be interested. Overall, blogging has been a pretty positive experience, one that has brought me into contact with a lot of fantastic people and has provided me with lots of writing experience…and some opportunities, too.
My blogging has slowed down a bit, in part because I usually post more private stuff (family photos, etc.) on Facebook now, and also because I usually put links and short observations on Twitter. But I enjoy writing about interesting things — even if they’re really only interesting to me — so the blog is here to stay.
My posts cover a wide range of topics such as family (mine, mostly), culture, language, religion, genealogy, and whatever else I feel like writing about. I also occasionally post (or link to) articles of mine that are published elsewhere, either on other websites or in newspapers or magazines.
Enjoy your visit to M A C V A Y S I A!
