Hi Andrew,
I traded emails with Ethel back in 2008, I believe. In fact, looking through my old emails, it seems I still owe her some files on the MacLeods. Thanks for reminding me. :)

I'm not sure if there's any connection between Archibald MacLellan and my ancestor Catherine. I'd like to think all the MacLellans of Eigg were related, but the problem is I'm still not sure whether Catherine was from Eigg or from Skye (Duncan was supposedly from Skye, and I don't know if he married Catherine before he moved to Eigg or after). I'm really hoping to track down Catherine's family one of these days.

By the way, it's not Fall over here. Where I live is pretty close to the Equator, so it's like eternal Summer here. Supposedly there are two seasons, the rainy season and the dry season. But to me it's more like the hot season and the really hot season, haha.

Jordan,

Hi again! I hope you are having a good...is it Fall where you are? I think that's right, but excuse me if I'm wrong (it's spring here in the Pacific Northwest, but feels like winter!) Anyway, I was looking around some genealogy sites and came across mention of Duncan and Catherine in someone's post. I know it's your Duncan, because they mention the exile from Skye to Eigg and Catherine McLellan as his wife. This is it:

From: "Ethel Close"
Subject: MacLeod, MacLellan, MacIsaac MacPherson MacDonald
Date: Fri, 27 Jan 2006 17:42:33 -0400

Looking for information on Duncan MacLeod born ca. 1725 in Isle of Skye &
later moved to Isle of Eigg . He was married to Catherine MacLellan . They
are my 6th Great Grandparents. His son Donald moved from The Isle of Eigg in
1791 to Broad Cove Marsh, Inverness County, Nova Scotia.. Thank You....
Ethel in canada

You might be fully aware of who Ethel is, but I wanted to share this with you anyway. Also, I just read that my g-g-g-g-granddad, Lauchlin MacIsaac came to Antigonish with Archibald McLellan (from Eigg) and they settled at Eigg Mountain there. Do you know if Archibald is relate to your Catherine McLellan? Just curious. Anyway, all the best to you and yours and we'll talk soon. - Andrew

Jan: Unfortunately I don't know the name of Malcom's wife. I would love to find out, as that would open up a whole new branch of the family tree that has been hidden from me.

I think it was only the Lowlanders who went to Ruthven Barracks. The Highlanders headed the other way (north) and ended up at Fort Augustus.

As far as I know, my Duncan MacLeod was from Skye. There are a couple of documents which mention this. He could have actually been from Eigg all along, but I still suspect that's just where he fled to in order to escape persecution in his home area.

Do you know the name of the woman from Mull that Malcolm married? An Aunt of mine emigrated to Winnipeg from Mull probably at the beginning of the 20th century.

I thought the Jacobite troops disbanded at Ruthven Barracks?

Was your relative Macleod who fought at Culloden from Skye or the Isle of Raasay?

Aye laddie. There can be only one! And wait for the continuation of this particular series of posts. You'll see that Duncan MacLeod is indeed immortal.
