My friend Aida, a Sarawakian now living in Canada’s frigid north, has posted an amazing photo of the Northern Lights (AKA Aurora Borealis) taken by her shutterbug husband, my good buddy and favourite Newfie, Frank.
I’ve seen the Northern Lights with my own eyes, though I’ve never been to Canada’s north. I saw the phenomenon one crisp fall evening in my hometown, Sydney (no, not that Sydney, this one). I looked up and there it was, like a big green curtain. Amazing.
But of course, the sight would have been way more vivid had I been in, say, oh I don’t know…Nunavut.
Go ahead and see for yourselves. Amazing. Great shot, Newf (and lard t’underin’ b’y, that moon shot is nice too).

thanks jordan and Frank thought it was still a bad pic as he is still learning to take a picture of it! so i am waiting what a “good pic” by his standards means, i thought the shot was pretty amazing as well and worth braving the -38C windchill weather!!
I had never heard of “your” Sydney, until a couple of weeks ago when we were on holiday in Spain. Someone had left a copy of a novel in the villa we rented. It was “Hunting Down Home” by Jean McNeil which is set in that very place.
