Will it ever change?

Lim Kit Siang asks:

When will the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad give his personal attention to this long-standing injustice in his Ministry to introduce an efficient and sensitive PR policy and ensure that all applications for PR are dealt with within 12 months and latest not more than three years?

Good question!

Of course, in the end, dealt with may still end up meaning flat-out rejection. But at least a big fat NO would be better than years of silence, eh?

One person left an interesting comment to that post, asking Lim Kit Siang to see if he could find out how many people have actually been given PR in Malaysia in the last few years, and where they were from. I think that would be interesting to know. I won’t hold my breath, though.

Leen and I are giving Malaysia five years starting from the middle of this month. That would be a long time to hold my breath, eh? If the Malaysian government still doesn’t want us (and really, it would be us they don’t want, not just me, because they should know that by rejecting me they’re forcing her out too), we’ll move to Canada, where Leen can get PR within seven months and be a citizen within a few short years.

Thanks to Yasmynn for the link!
